Homopolymers

Homopolymer resins are made from vinyl acetate monomer, and their minimum film-forming temperature is around 18 °C, so the ambient temperature during use matters. They are used mainly in wood glue, packaging adhesives, machine-made carpet sizing, moquette and fabrics. They have good light resistance and do not oxidise easily, but their water and chemical resistance is relatively weak. A plasticiser can be added for use at lower temperatures or where a softer film is needed.
